NACOGDOCHES — The Groveton Lady Indians remain undefeated in postseason play following two wins over West Sabine.
As well as moving to the Regional Quarterfinals, Groveton was ranked 10th in the state in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association poll.
On Thursday, Groveton downed West Sabine 6-3.
Lexi Martin got the win on the mound, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and throwing 8 strikeouts. On offense, Kiki Smith went 3-for-4 at the plate, driving in 2 runs, and Megan Luce went 1-for-4 while driving in 3 runs.
On Friday, the Lady Indians blanked the Lady Tigers 4-0.
Megan Luce got the win, tossing a one-hitter as well as 3 strikeouts. Luce led at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
The Lady Indians next face the Beckville Bearcats at 2 p.m. Saturday in Nacogdoches.
Indians end season
The Indians ended their baseball season with a pair of losses to Centerville.
On Thursday, the Tigers blanked Groveton 12-0 in the bi-district game in Huntsville.
Tanner Steubing was given the loss, even though he was replaced in the first inning with Ty Torregrosa after giving up a run. Torregrosa allowed 8 runs on 7 hits, striking out 4. Jackson Cathey allowed the remaining 3 runs on 3 hits in his 2/3 of an inning he pitched.
Cathey, Brody Thornton and Cash Moore picked up the only hits for the Indians.
On Friday, the Indians lost 10-2.
Lady Indians head to regional quarterfinalsJake Plotts picked up the loss, giving up 8 runs on 5 hits and striking out 3. Thornton, Cathey and Torregrosa each went 2-for-3 at the plate.
