LATEXO — Latexo Lady Tigers continued their diamond dominance with shutouts over Slocum and Centerville in District 25-2A softball action last week.

Last Tuesday, the Lady Tigers blanked Slocum 11-0 on the road and came back Friday with a 10-0 home win over Centerville.
Latexo has shut out its first three district opponents, bringing its total to 11 for the season.

The Lady Tigers cracked the top 10 in this week's TGCA class 1A/2A state poll, surging five spots from No. 12 to No. 7.
Against Slocum, Latexo scored one in the first, two in the second and four in the third for a 7-0 lead. After a scoreless fourth, the Lady Tigers scored two in the fifth and sixth innings to end the game under the 10-run rule.

Pitchers Lauren Woodard and Katy Allen combined for the shutout.

Starting in the circle, Woodard pitched four innings and gave up no runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. Allen closed the game, giving up no runs and no hits while striking out five and issuing no walks.

Latexo got on the scoreboard in the first inning when Malley Moore hit a one-out triple and scored on a single by Allen.
In the second, Rowdy Stokes was hit by pitch, stole second and advanced to third in a single by Taylor Dise. Stokes scored on a sacrifice fly by Shelby Coker and Dise scored on a fly ball double by Cammy Parrish for a 3-0 lead.

A four-run flurry in the third extended Latexo's lead to 7-0.
Moore led off with a line-drive double, stole third and scored on Allen's bunt single. Allen advanced to third on Woodard's sac bunt and scored on a single by Stokes.

With two outs, Coker reached on an error and Parrish hit a fly ball single to bring home Coker and Stokes for a seven-run cushion.
In the fifth, Stokes led off with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole home. Dise reached on an error and scored ona single by Nicol, who was out advancing to second for the third out.

Latexo iced the win in the sixth. Moore hit a one-out double and scored when Allen drove a hard ground ball to left field. Allen went to second on the throw, stole third and scored on a double by Stokes.

Slocum committed three errors while Latexo had zero.

The Lady Tigers pounded out 13 hits.

Collecting three hits apiece were Stokes, Allen and Moore, who booked two doubles and a triple. Parrish had two hits while Dise and Nicol each had one.

Allen and Parrish led in the RBI department with three apiece.

Latexo was aggressive on the base paths logging nine steals. Moore led with three stolen three bases while Dise and Stokes logged two apiece.

Hosting Centerville Friday, the Lady Tigers started strong and finished strong.

After scoring four runs in the first, Latexo carried a 6-0 lead into the fifth and pushed across four more for a run-rule victory.

Latexo didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard as Nicol led off with a double and scored on a double by Woodard.

Marissa Allison, courtesy runner for Woodard, advanced to third on a passed ball and stole home. Moore walked, stole second, went to third on an error and scored on Allen's single. After stealing second and third, Allen scored on a fly ball by Stokes for a 4-0 lead.

In the third, Moore drew a leadoff walk, stole second and scored on a bunt single by Natalie Smith to make it 5-0.

Latexo picked up another run in the fourth when Nicol hit a two-out double to bring home Coker, who reached on an error.

A four-run flurry in the fifth gave the Lady Tigers a 10-run game-ending lead.

After a lead-off walk and hit batter, Smith smashed a line-drive single to right field to bring home Moore.

The wheels fell off for Centerville when Stokes grounded into a fielder's choice. An error by the shortstop allowed Smith and Allen to score. With Stokes at second, Dise hit a hard grounder to bring home the 10th run.

Woodard and Allen again combined for the shutout.

Woodard allowed three hits with six strikeouts and one walk over four innings Allen pitched one inning and gave up no hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

Centerville committed five errors to Latexo's one.

Latexo batters collected six hits off Centerville pitcher C. Brent, who gave up 10 runs, struck out two and walked four.
Nicol collected a pair of doubles and one RBI while Smith had two base hits and two RBI.

Allen and Woodard, who had a double, also contributed hits. Allen was hit by pitch and had two stolen bases.

Moore got on base via three free passes, stole two bases and scored three times.
