Preserving the harvest

As spring has now sprung, it is now time to start planning what to do with all the vegetables and fruits you will harvest this growing season. Canning, drying and freezing are methods used to preserve the harvest and these methods will be discussed at the March Produce Growers Breakfast Meeting. The guest speaker will be Joel Redus, Angelina County Extension Agent for family and community health. He will explore and explain the different methods to safely preserve the harvest.

The Polk County Farm Bureau Growers Breakfast Meeting will be at 8 a.m. March 31 at the Polk County Farm Bureau building located at 900 Hwy. 59 Loop North in Livingston. Kolaches, doughnuts and coffee will be available. If you have not attended a previous meeting, please RSVP to the Polk County AgriLife Extension Office at 936-327-6828. There is no cost to attend.
