Eagles smash Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans, 39-14

 The Woodville Eagles defeated the Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans 39-14 in Coldspring.  The Eagles improved their record to 2-1 on the season, while the Trojans dropped to 2-1. The game provided a sweep for Woodville as the seventh, eighth, and junior varsity teams were victorious as well.  

 Luke Babin led the offensive attack completing 8 of 14 passing attempts for 142 yards. He threw four touchdowns and one interception.

 Zayon Williams was the leading rusher for Woodville with 121 yards on 23 carries and a touchdown. Dustin Barlow scampered for 46 yards on 12 rushes and a score.  Barlow had the longest run of the game for 16 yards.  Tanner Ladoux rushed for 19 yards on three attempts as well.

 Gage Tolar led the receiving corps with three catches for 53 yards and two touchdowns. 

 Kevunte McDaniel added 34 yards on two receptions and scored a touchdown as well.   

 Barlow had the longest catch for the Eagles with a 32-yard pass from Babin.  Savon Bolden reached the end zone as well, while receiving two passes for 23 yards.  

 Defensively, Woodville forced three turnovers. Caleb Johnson had an interception, while Jathan Traylor and Tayvion Hunter each recovered a fumble.  Astin Daily graded out best on defense with seven tackles, four assists and a tackle for a loss. Jacob Hyder had a solid night with six tackles, two assists, and a tackle for a loss. Both Traylor and Hunter each recorded a sack.

 The Eagles will host Diboll Friday night for Homecoming Weekend.  The junior high football teams will host the Lumberjacks Thursday while the junior varsity will go on the road to face Diboll.  Kick-off at both sites is slated for 5 p.m.

  

Lady Eagles go 1-1

 The Lady Eagles volleyball team went 1-1 this week. They defeated Deweyville on Tuesday and lost to Lumberton Friday.  Friday, Coach Connor will host the alumni volleyball game and have activities for younger students for Homecoming.  They will host the Evadale Lady Rebels on Tuesday with JV1 starting at 4:30. The junior high teams will play in the Hardin-Jefferson Tournament on Saturday and travel to Warren on Monday.  

 The cross-country teams will run in the Central Invitational on Sept. 28.  Aleiah Burkes placed seventh at the Broaddus Meet and third in Huntington. Rhea Williams placed eighth in both meets as well.
