Lady Dogs face Spurger in tough match

From Staff Reports

Colmesneil’s Lady Dogs lost a tough home match on Friday to the Spurger Lady Pirates, 3-1.

The Lady Dogs played with a lot of grit and spirit, but small miscues added up in the end, according to Coach Otis Chunn.

Spurger played solid and on Friday, they got the win.

Freshman Justice Chisum made her second start in the game against Spurger, and she proved she is ready by doing a lot of small noticed things to help the team, Chunn said.

That is why she is this weeks Player of the Week.

The Lady Dogs traveled to Chester on Tuesday, to take on the Lady Jackets (scores unavailable at press time) and, head to Trinity on Friday to face the Lady Tigers.

The Bulldogs got their first win of the season, after a crushing opener against Cushing. Last Friday, on Taylor Field, the ‘Dogs routed Linden Kildare’s Tigers, 30-6.

The ‘Dogs travel to Hubbard this Friday, to take on the Jaguars, and to add to their 1-1 season record. After Hubbard, they have one more non-district game, against the TrinitTigers, which will also be a road game, before starting district competition against Sabine Pass, in another road game, on Friday, Sept. 27.
