Court to consider bids for leveling of Dunbar Complex

The Polk County Commissioners Court will discuss and consider action related to Bid #2024-23 for a “building leveling and adjustment project” at the Dunbar Complex at 1102 Martin Luther King Drive in Livingston during its regular meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Bids for the demolition and restoration of properties through the Hurricane Harvey Buyout Program will be discussed and considered for approval.

In other bid activity, the Court will discuss and consider approval to advertise Bid #2024-24 for “tunnel drain replacement” at the Polk County Jail and determine the method of funding; and will also discuss and consider action related to Bid #2024-22 regarding “erosion restoration” of a section of Kimball Creek located in Precinct 4.

Requests for capital purchases to be included in the fiscal year 2025 budget, will be considered as follows:

• Body worn camera package with five-year terms from Axon Enterprise Inc. for the jail, in the amount of $49,439.10 per year, to be paid from jail capital outlay;

• Body worn camera package with five-year terms from Axon Enterprise Inc. for the sheriff’s office, in the amount of $53,844.79 per year, to be paid from sheriff’s office capital outlay;

• Sheriff’s office domain server from CDW-G, not to exceed $30,000, to be paid from information technology capital outlay; and

• Tax office server from CDW-G, not to exceed $24,500, to be paid from information technology capital outlay.

The Court will review and consider approval of a county investment policy as presented by the county treasurer.

A resolution authorizing the distribution of unclaimed capital credits received in fiscal year 2023 and establishing a policy for future distributions will be considered for approval.

In personnel matters, the Court will consider approval of personnel action form requests submitted by department heads since the last meeting and review any authorized emergency hires.

Fiscal year 2024 budget revisions, as presented by the county auditor’s office, will be considered for approval.

The Court will receive an update from Healthy County Wellness Committee.

Items on the consent agenda include:

• Approve minutes of the Aug. 27 regular session;

• Approve schedules of bills;

• Approve order designating surplus property;

• Receive and record personnel action forms submitted by elected officials since the last meeting;

• Withdraw Onalaska Water Supply Corporation from Polk County’s FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Application DR-4485 (generator replacement program);

• Approve order setting juror reimbursement for fiscal year 2025;

• receive Polk Central Appraisal District re-appraisal plan; and

• Accept award of SB 224 catalytic converter grant from the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority in the amount of $55,250 for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and approve resolution authorizing the application, ensuring the appropriate use of funds, and designating the authorized official, financial officer, and program director
