Back to school with resilience and optimism

As summer days draw to a close and we embark on a new school year, I wanted to take a moment to share my excitement and gratitude as the superintendent of Shepherd ISD. The start of the school year is always a time of renewed energy, fresh opportunities, and shared hopes for our students’ success. I’m eager to see our halls filled with students.

The anticipation of a new school year brings a unique energy that is both invigorating and inspiring.

Over the past few months, our dedicated team of educators, administrators, and support staff have been hard at work preparing for this moment. Our schools have been meticulously cleaned and organized, new resources have been added, and exciting programs are ready to engage and inspire our students.

We are committed to creating a safe and stimulating environment where every child can thrive. The past few years have been tough, particularly with the pandemic, but what I have learned is that it’s not about how many times you get knocked down, but how many times you get up.

This resilience has driven my energy and perspective for the 2024-2025 school year. To ensure we make this year the best one yet, we will continue to focus on three key priorities:

•Academic excellence. We are committed to providing a rigorous and engaging curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our students. Our teachers have been working diligently to ensure that their instruction is both challenging and accessible, and we are implementing new tools and strategies to support student learning.

•Student well-being. We recognize that academic success is closely tied to emotional and social well-being. Our schools will continue to offer a range of support services, from counseling to extracurricular activities, to ensure that every student feels supported and valued.

•Community engagement. We believe that education is a collaborative effort and that strong partnerships between schools, families, and the community are essential. We encourage you to stay involved, attend school events, and communicate with us. Your engagement and feedback are vital in helping us create the best possible learning environment for our children.

As we embark on the 2024-2025 school year, let’s embrace these principles and work together to create an environment where our students can excel. The dedication and resilience of our staff will set the stage for another year of excellence at Shepherd ISD. Together, we will continue to strive for success, ensuring that our students receive the highest quality education possible.

Your continued support, enthusiasm, and involvement are crucial to our success.

To better serve you, please do not hesitate to reach out to our campus principals for any and all student needs.
