Well, you don’t have to be told it is August

The next 10 days will be over 100 degrees counting the heat index, and the only relief in sight is when we have a cold front of 99 degrees next month.

Kudos to the SAAFE House Purse Bingo Gala Saturday night at the Manor. The food, prizes, and auctions were wonderful.

• Two New events in August:

The Circle of Brothers will host a Bible Study Saturday at 7 p.m. at their club on South Robb Street. They are serving pulled pork or chopped beef sandwiches with chips for $10 each.

Wayne Williams will provide the music and there will be a 50/50 raffle. For more information, call (936) 662-9471.

• On Aug. 23, Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church will sponsor a fish fry from 5-7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The cost is $15 for a plate. The church is located at 401 Prospect Drive. For more information, call Iris Alaniz at (713) 253-6221.

• Fair News: Sept. 19-21 is the Trinity Community Fair Association’s 75th Year of operation. This livestock, vendor/craft show, and carnival is one of the last free fairs in Texas.

The theme for the TCFA Fair this year is “Hats Off to 75 Years.” Applications and rules for the fair booths, inside and outside, have been put on the internet/Facebook for downloading.

There are some new additions and old reminders to this year’s guidelines, and you must adhere to these rules, or you will not be invited back to participate next year.

If you cannot use this method of entry, please contact Kim Spillman for more information and how to obtain forms at (936) 661-1568.

• The Circle of Brothers is hosting a steak night Sept. 21 at the White Rock City Marina, 819 White Rock Road in Trinity, from 6-9 p.m.

The menu is steak, baked potato, salad, and a roll for $25. Reserve your steak ahead of time by calling (936) 662-9471 or (936) 662-2917.
