GROVETON — The Trinity County Commissioners Court continued its budget workshops for the coming fiscal year at its regular meeting on July 23.

The court is preparing the FY 2025 Trinity County budget.

Two departments — the District Clerk’s Office and the County Auditor — put forth requests.

District Clerk Jill Steptoe requested a full-time records clerk, and County Auditor Bonnie Kennedy asked to move the grant writer and IT person to a higher pay grade based on seniority.

In other business, the court:

• approved invoices for disaster-related purchases;

• approved Windstream as the county’s internet provider at same rate as the last fiscal year;

• named County Judge Danny Martin, County Commissioner Neal Smith and County Attorney Colton Hay to a committee to review subdivision rules and regulations for Trinity County;

• delayed awarding a bid for oil sand, clay road material and contract hauling and delivery of materials because there was an error on bid request;

• awarded a bid for disaster-related debris removal services to DRC;

• awarded a bid for disaster debris monitoring and consulting services to Tetratech;

• approved an upgrade to the iDocket Software used by the County Clerk and District Clerk, to taken out of records management funds;

• approved bids on tax resale properties from Trinity County Appraisal District; and

• approved closing McMullen Road, with landowners splitting ownership of land down the middle, following a public hearing.
