BRYAN — Groveton’s Dax Parker joins the state’s top players for the Blue Bell/TSWA Class 2A All-State Baseball Team
Collinsville’s Logan Jenkins and Ira’s Jeren Pena were the players of the year.
Jenkins batted .543 with 13 doubles, five home runs, 61 stolen bases, 69 runs scored and 65 runs batted in. The senior shortstop also pitched, going 15-1 with an 0.44 earned run average in leading 40-3 Collinsville to the 2A title. The UT-Tyler signee struck out 156 in 79 2/3 innings.
Pena was 12-0 pitching with an 0.62 earned run average. He struck out 109 in 56 2/3 innings with only 19 walks. He threw two no-hitters. The junior also played shortstop, batting .507 with 10 doubles and six triples in helping the Bulldogs go 24-0 and win the Class A title.
