Residents urged to seek assistance

Special to the News-Times

COLDSPRING — Kris Eastham, San Jacinto County Liaison Officer for the Texas Division of Emergency Management, said that FEMA is ready to assist residents after the devastation of Hurricane Beryl.

Eastham said TDEM was able to get FEMA in here to help our homeowners and businesses after the April/May flood, and unfortunately, the need exists again.

“As you know, our community has suffered tremendous damage because of Beryl,” she said. “If you or someone you know, had damages or business losses, to their homes or businesses, as a result of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Beryl, please report them to the state by going to https://damage.tdem.texas.gov.”

Before the state can ask FEMA for assistance, it has to get a picture of the extent of the damage. The more verifiable damage information collected, the better the chances of getting federal assistance.

Eastham cautioned that the be the result of Hurricane Beryl, not the earlier floods.
