The Polk County Sheriff ’s Office responded to a drowning in the Trinity River below the Lake Livingston Dam on July 5.
Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation upon learning that Israel Hernandez, 31, entered the river to help family members who were stuck in the current.
The Polk County Sheriff ’s Office and the Texas Game Wardens searched the area and further down river for several days.
Hernandez’ body was recovered on July 10. Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Jamie Richardson ordered an autopsy and the body was transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
