GRAPELAND – On March 4, The Cowboy Church of Houston County, in Grapeland, invites the public to participate in its four-week event, the Spring Fling Playday Series.

The series includes barrels, pole bending, speed racing, straight-a-way, dummy roping, and what is being touted as “a mystery event.”

Age categories are Buckaroos 0-5, Pee Wee 6-9, Juniors 10-14, Seniors 15-19, and Adults 19+. The cost is $10 per event, but discounts are given for participating in all events.

The series will begin on Saturday, March 4, and will subsequently be held on April 15, April 29, and May 20. Prizes will be given to the high-point winner in each age group at the end of the series.

Riders must ride the same horse for all events that day to receive points and must enter four of the five points events at three of the four play days to be eligible for High Point Prizes. A mutton-bustin’ contest will also be held for kids up to six. Concessions will be available.

For more information on the series and to participate, email [email protected] or follow The Cowboy Church of Houston County on Facebook. The church is located at 12328 US Highway 287 in Grapeland.
