Board approves termination

TRINITY — After a closed session, the Trinity ISD Board of Trustees approved the termination of the district’s transportation director.

Superintendent Dr. John Kaufman said that the contract for Robert Redmond was terminated on the night of the June 24 board meeting.

According to police reports, Robert Ryan Redmond, 52, was arrested June 11 on a charge of theft of property of more than $2,500 but less than $30,000, a third-degree felony. He was released on a $20,000 bond.

A special meeting was scheduled for Tuesday to discuss hiring a replacement.

In other business, the trustees:

• approved a resolution to pay employees for days lost during the flooding disaster. Kaufman said that several employees were flooded in and could not report for work;

• renewed health care coverage for employees for the 2024-2025 school year, which reflects a premium increase of $31 per employee, which will be passed on to the employees;

• approved the creation of a facility planning committee to explore the district’s needs and how to meet them through the existing budget and without creating a bond issue; and

• approved research into the cost feasibility of implementing a cosmetology program for the district.
