World-ranked Warren athlete to compete internationally

With a little help from her friends:

WARREN – Amanda Jordan, a Fred resident, who qualified for a spot in the World Championships this year, is all set to compete. Jordan, however, could use a little help getting there.

The fundraiser on Go Fund Me titled “Help Amanda Jordan Reach the Finish Line” has a goal set to reach $15,000. The fundraising effort was organized by Laura Bryant, and the proceeds raised from it will go toward covering the costs of travel, food, lodging and any other fees associated with her racing.

She is set to participate in races for the World Championships on August 15 in Australia and on Sept. 8 in Switzerland. Last year, she competed in a duathlon event at the World Championships, in Ibiza, Spain.

Jordan did a run-cycle-run competition, where she ran a 10K, biked a 40K race and then ran a 5K.

She came in a second-place finish for Team USA in her class, and placed eighth, overall, in the world.

According to Bryant, Jordan is a selffunded athlete without any sponsorships to help cover any costs for competing.

Jordan is widely known and beloved as a coach and teacher at Warren Junior High School. According to Bryant, she is an inspiration to the students and serves as a “role model for what hard work and determination looks like.”

Jordan is also an alumna of Warren ISD (class of 2006) and last year, prior to travelling to Spain, received a surprise send-off in the Warren Junior High gymnasium. The venue was packed with colleagues, family, friends and well-wishers from the community cheering her on.
