Clean audit for Ivanhoe

IVANHOE – In a brief special-called meeting last Thursday evening, the Ivanhoe City Council received its fiscal year 2023 financial audit.

Ronnie Herrington, of Goff and Herrington, spoke before council to present the audit report, and admitted that although he is “a tax guy” and not an auditor, he was tasked with presenting the information and, above all, the city received an “A,” in layman’s terms.

Herrington went over the process, and said the firm performed procedures and analytics on the city’s financial statements. An example he cited was that the city’s variance was less than $2,500 for the reporting period, which, for its budget of $400K, amounted to less than one percent. “That’s pretty good,” he said.

He also noted there were no findings in the audit process that necessitated any further investigation, or further work issues.

Herrington said that Ivanhoe’s City Secretary Hailey Williams did a great job of getting all needed documents to the firm in order to conduct the audit.

The council unanimously voted to approve the audit.
