Mother, son arrested for murder

A mother and son have been arrested and charged with murder in conjunction with a June 15 verbal altercation that led to a shooting that left Jillian Rasnick, 38 of West Virginia, dead.

Robin Crum, 65, and Christopher Crum, 46, both of Livingston, were charged with felony murder in connection with Rasnick’s death and are both being held in the Polk County Jail on bonds. Christopher Crum was also charged with terroristic threat impersonating a public servant.

On June 15, the Polk County Sheriff ’s Office received a 911 call of a shooting in the 500 block of Wilson Lake Estates Road. Detectives responded to the scene, along with EMS and the Segno Volunteer Fire Department and discovered Rasnick, who was treated at the scene before being pronounced dead from a gunshot wound.

Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Terri Mayer conducted an inquest and ordered that an autopsy be performed by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

This investigation is still ongoing and is being conducted by detectives with the Polk County Sheriff ’s Office, along with the assistance of the Polk County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Rangers Office, and the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. No further information is being released at this time.
