SHEPHERD — The Shepherd ISD Board of Managers approved the compensation plan for the coming school year which includes a modest raise.
Superintendent Jason Hewitt said that at the Thursday meeting, board members OK’d a plan that includes a 2 percent raise, which was approved last month during budget discussions.
Additionally, the plan cleans up some existing line items, such as performance incentives, that are no longer available. Hewitt said that this is because of the loss of some federal funds, such as ESSER funds, that were temporary.
Because of the changes, the document, when changed, has to go through the board, he said.
In other business, the board:
• approved an increase to the funds paid toward TRS Active Care to $325;
• held a public heard detailing spending of federal funds toward school improvement; • discussed contract renewals for school staff; • approved several TASB policy updates;
• approved instructional materials for the CTE, financial math and science programs based on TEKS recommendations; and
• approved a TEA waiver for the district’s Hope Academy for its optional flexible school day program.
