Fourth of July celebrated at Heritage Village

Fourth of July celebrated at Heritage Village

WOODVILLE – An Independence Day celebration is scheduled for Thursday, July 4 at Heritage Village in Woodville. The event will feature a picnic, live music and a speaker.

According to Heritage Village director Ofeira Gazzaway, the event is a way of bringing back the Village’s Fourth of July celebration, which has not been held for several years. Previously, it was held out at the Cauble House, near Chester, which is one of the properties owned by the Tyler County Heritage Society. This time, attendees can come and tour the Village and enjoy the evening of festivities.

The gates are set to open at 5 p.m., Gazzway said, and Kylan Holloway will kick things off, musically, at 6 p.m.

The speaker for the event is Jim Boone. Boone is a longtime historian, educator and noted jazz musician. He will speak at 6:30.

Gazzaway encouraged everyone to bring picnic foods to share, and for those who want some hot dogs, Norm’s Dogs and Brats will be set up on site, with a part of the proceeds going to TCHS.

There is a cooler charge of $25 for one family, and organizers are requiring that attendees not bring alcohol or fireworks to the event.
