Standoff ends without incident

— San Jacinto County Sheriff ’s deputies were able to end a standoff with a teen in a calm manner and helped provide the required assistance.

Sheriff Greg Capers said that on Friday just after noon, San Jacinto County 911 received an urgent call from a mother about her 18-year-old, whose son was experiencing a “mental health crisis” in their home in Trails End.

When deputies arrived, the son had barricaded himself inside of his bedroom and refused to come out, while making suicidal statements to deputies.

The San Jacinto County Sheriff ’s Office Special Response Team was requested, and then began attempts to get him to come out of his room; after a short time, the son stopped responding.

concern for his safety, SRT made entry to the bedroom where they were able to safely and successfully remove the son from his room without any injuries. The boy was taken to a local hospital for him to get the help he needed.

Capers said his office is committed to helping residents of San Jacinto County in their time of need.
