Point Blank Council deals with storm repairs

— The June 10 meeting of the Point Blank City Council had residents seeking help with the damage left by late May-early June storms.

Mayor Mark Wood said that everyone wants their roads and other areas fixed after the flood, and the city is working on plan to address all issues. At the meeting, the council approved a disaster declaration, and additional funds for street repairs.

Wood said the city is working on the emergency items first — things that have to be fixed right away — and then move on to less critical matters.

The council also discussed applying for funds through FEMA for work on the river basins in the area, as there are 10-15 homes substantially damaged in the floods, Wood said.

In a separate matter, council members Matt Smith and Gary Wulf were sworn in, having won re-election.
