Suspect apprehended, charged

Christopher Lee JamesA suspect with pending warrants now faces additional charges following an incident that occurred May 23 at a residence in the Shelter Cove subdivision off Scenic Loop.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was attempting to serve felony warrants on Christopher Lee James, 40 of Livingston. Upon arrival, deputies identified the subject and began giving him instructions to exit the residence. He failed to comply, barricading himself in a rear bedroom with his wife and two minor children.

As deputies and detectives surrounded the residence, James exited the bedroom. Officers entered the home, and he was taken into custody without incident.

James was charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering or fabricating physical evidence. Three active warrants were served on him for bail jumping/failure to appear, bond forfeiture/possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
