COLMESNEIL – Colmesneil City Council held their regular monthly meeting last Tuesday. All minutes from previous meetings were approved in short order, and agenda items were next up.

Council members were given the FY 2023 Audit to review and discuss at the next meeting in June.

In city secretary Wendy Bendy’s office report, she emphasized the amount of damage city hall sustained during the April 10 storms. Bendy explained, “lightning hit the telecom line modem, it was totally burned up. It took out our telephone, printer, and fax line. We filed a claim with the insurance, and we now have a new Lexmark printer. In the aftermath of that, 3B Electric came out and gave the city a bid on getting a new surge protector so hopefully that scenario never happens again”.

Bendy added that, “a week later, an employee was clocking out for lunch, and heard water dripping; he pulls down attic ladder, and water started gushing in. The outside of the building also sustained hail damage”.

Mayor Duane Crews mentioned that they were going to get an adjuster to come and look at the damage on the roof but didn’t know about the hail damage.

After quickly approving all office, financial and investment, and water/sewer reports, council adjourned for the evening.

Colmesneil City Council meets the second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at City Hall
