SHEPHERD — Shepherd Independent School District is proud to announce the establishment of the Education Foundation of Shepherd ISD, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting educational and charitable initiatives exclusively for the benefit of the district.

The foundation, while independent of the school district, aligns closely with Shepherd ISD’s vision for quality education and commitment to excellence. Its primary goals are to develop, implement, and enhance instructional programs and educational opportunities, as well as to recognize exemplary students and educators.

Given the challenges and uncertainties in the Texas public school finance system, EFSI seeks alternative sources of revenue to ensure the continuation and enhancement of quality education in Shepherd ISD.

The newly appointed board, approved by the Shepherd ISD Board of Managers at the April meeting, held its first official meeting on May 9. During this meeting, the Executive Board of Directors discussed future fundraising opportunities and strategies to garner community support for the school while preserving its long-standing traditions.

Lauren Migl, the president of the Education Foundation of Shepherd ISD, expressed her enthusiasm for the foundation’s mission, and said, “I am proud to lead the EFSI Board and serve with board members who will work hard to build a strong educational foundation for our schools and students.”

The partnership between Shepherd ISD and EFSI marks an exciting opportunity to enhance the educational experience for students and educators alike. Through collaborative efforts and community support, the foundation aims to make a lasting impact on the Shepherd ISD community.
