TRINITY — The four Trinity City Council members up for re-election retained their seats following the Saturday election.

Unofficial results show Mayor Billy Goodin received 233 votes to challenger Jimmy McCasland’s 45, and Council Position 3 incumbent Scott Womack received 174 votes to challenger Johnny English’s 104.

Council members Clegg DeWalt and Jason “Bubba” Smith ran unopposed, and received 225 votes and 207 votes, respectively.

•Westwood Shores Municipal Utility District members approved the lone ballot measure seeking $7 million in bonds for improvements to its water and wastewater systems.

Preliminary votes show 275 for to 110 against.

The bonds would add a small amount to members’ property taxes.

•Two incumbents and a newcomer were elected to the Groveton City Council.

Since the seats are at-large positions, the top three vote-getters were selected. Of those, incumbents Billy Jones received 50 votes and Joe Kennedy received 44 votes to retain their seats, and Casey Anderson received 47 votes and will replace Steve Casper, who opted not to run.

•The two incumbents on the Trinity ISD Board of Trustees retained their seats.

Incumbents Judy Bishop received 333 votes and Elizabeth King received 367 and will remain board members. Former board member Rick Hortman received 273 votes.
