CHESTER – Eagle Scout Anderson Cooper will remove the Chester City Park benches and tables, build new ones, clean the concrete pads, and repaint the metal tables and benches, all enthusiastically approved by the council at its previous April meeting.

At their May 6 meeting, Chester City Council voted to allow the Chester Fire Volunteer Department to expand its current building.  According to Council Member Bryan Davis the CFVD needed the space for the trucks it hopes to procure as they endeavor to expand their ability to serve the community.

There was a discussion on getting a local contractor to improve some of the gas pipeline for the Chester Gas Company which is run by the city, which they believed would save money as opposed to paying for travel from some out-of-county company.

City Secretary Balela Weaver explained some of the intricacies of their new accounting software and the learning curve she is managing well as they make the full transition.

There were a few past-due gas bills, and the city is working with a handful to help them get caught up
