The Polk County Commissioners Court approved the early voting schedule for the March 5 Democratic and Republican primary elections during a special called meeting Tuesday. Voters may vote in either the Democratic Primary Election or the Republican Primary Election. Winners in each primary will face each other in the Nov. 5 General Election.

Early voting in Polk County will run from Feb. 20 to March 1 at three locations – the Polk County Judicial Center at 101 W. Mill St. in Livingston, the Sechrest Webster Community Center at 100 W. Front St. in Corrigan and the Onalaska Sub-Courthouse at 14111 U.S. Hwy. 190 West in Onalaska.

Early voting times will vary in an attempt to accommodate everyone’s schedules. Early voting will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at all three locations Feb. 20-23. Early voting will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at all three locations on Feb. 24, a Saturday, and from 1-7 p.m. at all three locations on Feb. 25, a Sunday. Early voting will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at all three locations Feb. 26 through March 1.

A total of eight contractors placed a total of 11 bids in the re-bid for the roof replacement at the county-owned building located at 321 N. Beatty Ave. in Livingston. The Court approved accepting the bid from Bonner Roofing & Metal out of Diboll. The bid was for $131,000 with a 20-year warranty, a start date of March 3 and an end date of April 5.

The Court was slated to consider action regarding the bid for the purchase of one vehicle for Precinct 3 Road and Bridge. However, as no bids were received, the Court approved rebidding it.
