SPURGER – The Tyler County Sheriff’s Office made a recent arrest of a suspicious person in the Spurger area, which resulted in a drug charge.

Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford reported that on the night of Wednesday, Dec. 13, at approximately 8:30 p.m., TCSO deputies were patrolling in the area, when they responded to a call concerning a suspicious person on County Road 4375. The caller said that a man was wearing a reflective vest and standing in the shadows near their property.

When the deputies arrived, they made contact with Levi Daniel Riddick, a 31-year-old Woodville resident, who was, indeed, wearing a reflective safety vest, typically used by workers conducting traffic control. Weatherford said the deputies could determine that Riddick was under the influence and searched him. On his person, they discovered a syringe and a clear baggie with a crystalline substance, which was “consistent with methamphetamine.”

Riddick was taken into custody and transported to the Tyler County Justice Center, where he was issued a charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Hughes set Riddick’s bond at $10,000.
