WOODVILLE – The Tyler County Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals near Woodville last week on charges of arson, assault and warrants.

Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford said that on the afternoon of Tuesday, Dec. 19, TCSO deputies responded to a report of suspected arson along County Road 4070, and when the deputies arrived, they found volunteer firefighters already on the scene, extinguishing a field of burning pine straw.

As the deputies were investigating the scene, a 911 call came in from another residence along the same road, in reference to a disturbance involving an armed individual. The deputies made it to the residence and located Marissa Sandoval, a 27-year-old Huntington woman and Kenneth High, age 42, of Woodville.

Weatherford said that the deputies ascertained through statements that Sandoval had fired a weapon inside the residence during an argument, and High, when questioned, admitted to hiding the weapon and had lied about its location to the deputies.

“Deputies were then able to gather multiple witness statements from residents stating Sandoval and High were observed trespassing on property next to the arson scene as it was on fire,” Weatherford said.

The pair were taken into custody and transported to the Tyler County Justice Center. Sandoval was charged with aggravated assault; arson; criminal trespass and found to have eight out-of-county warrants. Her bonds were set, totaling $240,000. High was charged with tampering with physical evidence; arson and criminal trespass. His bonds were set at $140,000.
