TRINITY — 356 Volunteer Fire Department, with help from Trinity Fire & Rescue, battled a structure fire early Monday morning.

Chief Marvin Saunders said the fire broke out at an address on Armadillo Road in the Hawg Heaven subdivision at about 3 p.m. in what was described as a piece of rental property.

The female occupant, who was not identified, was cooking something to eat, got distracted, and the grease caught fire. Saunders said she tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher but was unable to, so she went to a neighbor’s house and called 911.

Firefighters arrived about 7 minutes later, but at that time, the house was fully aflame, Saunders said. The occupant lost everything, and the Red Cross was notified and should help her with lodgings and clothes.

Trinity Assistant Fire Chief Keith Johnson said his department was called for mutual aid and responded with two trucks and 12 firefighters.

No one was injured in the fire.
