SPURGER – Spurger High School is doing its part to make sure that children in the foster care system have a brighter Christmas this year.

The school is sponsoring a toy drive to benefit the children who are represented by the Sabine Neches Region CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). Donations can be delivered at the Spurger HS front office, during regular school hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to a campus representative.

The donation period began Monday, Dec. 4 and lasts until Friday, Dec. 15. Each classroom will also have a designated box for students to make donations.

Some ideas that a Spurger HS representative suggested for donations include: Legos; toy trucks; baby dolls; Hot Wheels chars; Barbie dolls; interactive toddler toys; foam bullet launchers; art supplies; coloring books; basketballs; volleyballs; footballs and skateboards.

The CASA program serves to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocates for children and youths who have experienced abuse and neglect.
