TRINITY — Texas Department of Public Safety troopers investigated a crash on state Highway 19 south of Trinity that occurred Saturday.
The investigation indicates that at approximately 6:47 p.m., a 2011 GMC Terrain was traveling north in the inside lane, while a 2011 Lincoln MKX was traveling north in the outside lane.
Trinity Fire & Rescue Assistant Chief Keith Johnson said his department responded with 11 firefighters and two engines to the crash, as the northbound lanes were shut down for approximately 15 minutes for Ventura EMS to load patients.
Reports indicated the driver of the GMC slowed down and traveled onto the left shoulder to enter the turnaround but changed her mind and attempted to re-enter the inside lane. As she attempted to enter the inside lane, another vehicle was traveling in it and the driver of the GMC swerved left to avoid striking it.
At this time, the driver lost control and entered the outside lane and struck the Lincoln on its left side, reports state.
The driver of the GMC, 62-year-old Brenda Faulk of Crockett, was transported to Huntsville Memorial for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, 34-year-old Jasmine Faulk, was not injured.
The driver of the Lincoln, 72-year-old Timothy Price of Trinity, was not injured. His passengers, 95-year-old Jane Kempfe and James Price, were not injured.
