COLDSPRING — The Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD Board approved a resolution regarding safety and security personnel at its Nov. 27 meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Bryan Taulton said that because of a policy change, the district must have an armed security guard at each of its campuses and must submit a resolution to the state signifying that.

Taulton said the district does meet the requirement, and there are four campuses all with armed guards.

In other business, the board:

•approved updates to policies;

•approved changes to the progress report cycle since the district has adopted the 4-day week; reports will go out every 9 weeks instead of every 6 weeks;

•approved updates to class rankings;

•approved adding business and marketing courses to be part of the pathway in CTE;

•approved the 2024-25 school calendar;

•discussed engaging an architect to determine any needs at the Jones campus, which may be repurposed as a school;

•discussed hiring legal services if the district needs to pursue a bond election in May;

•approved the certified tax roll from the San Jacinto County Appraisal District;

•approved adding two coordinators to the professional pay grade; and

•split votes at 1,013 apiece for Collin Lilly and Crystal Domini for the SJC Appraisal District board.
