From Staff Reports

Last Tuesday, the Warren Warriors took on the Sabine Pass Sharks on the Sharks’ home court, losing 57-49.

Although still without a win this season (0-5), the Warriors played the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats on Tuesday (score unavailable at press time) and will travel to Big Sandy on Thursday for the Big Sandy Tournament, while the Lady Warriors will play in the West Sabine Tournament in Pineland that same date.

According to Warren head basketball boys’ coach, Buddy Adams, the junior varsity games that were scheduled for Friday are now cancelled, due to the opposing team not being able to find enough players or officials.

“At the end of the day, we want the boys playing as much as possible, but sometimes that is out of our control,” said Adams.

Fundraiser ongoing for basketball needs

Coach Adams launched a fundraiser for the Warriors’ basketball program on the Schoolfundr.org platform recently.

“As a coach, you constantly strive to provide the best for your athletes. Here at Warren, we want the young men in our basketball program to have a memorable high school career. We want to provide the best for these young men that we can, while also creating opportunities for memorable experiences,” Adams said.

The fundraiser was created with the goal of raising money to create a first-class experience for the athletes, including new shooting shirts for all the teams and travel gear for the sub-varsity squads.

The primary goal, according to Adams, is to help fund the Christmas Tournament trip to Corpus Christi.

The fundraiser is linked on Warren ISD’s Facebook page, and can be accessed through the Schoolfundr.org web platform.
