LIVINGSTON — The Lady Pirates faced Livingston and Big Sandy on Oct. 31, shaking off cobwebs in the first scrimmage of the 2023 basketball season.

No scores were kept and the scrimmage was a timed play of 20 minutes; all three teams were expected to play a competitive level and have instructions added as the scrimmage continued. There was only one free throw if a foul was committed, due to it being a scrimmage. There was a jump ball to start the scrimmage but only one quarter was allowed.

Coach Eldridge McAdams, Head Lady Pirate Basketball Coach, said, “We will be a young team this year with only a few seniors to lead the team. They are good seniors and will lead the team as needed.”

McKayden Nelson and Tiana Clark, both seniors this year, showed a remarkable sign of leadership during the Livingston scrimmage.

Coldspring

The Lady Trojans downed Livingston in the season opener 37-33 on Friday.

Standouts were Ella Phillips with 10 points and Shani’ya Goffney with 6 points.
