FRED – Deputies with the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in the Fred area on a burglary charge, which, according to Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford, could hold a key to solving other thefts and burglaries.

Weatherford said that last Friday, Oct. 20, deputies arrested 27-year-old Landon Kane Bell, of Fred, after obtaining a warrant for his arrest the prior week.

Weatherford said TCSO had taken a report of a residential burglary that occurred on Oct. 8, where a maroon Kawasaki Mule side-by-side ATV was stolen from a residence on County Road 4500. Two days later, deputies were given a trail camera image of a white male on a spray-painted ATV. The subject was trespassing on the Coyote Ridge Hunting Club.

The deputies were able to identify Bell from the image and subsequently obtained a warrant for Bell on a criminal trespass charge.

They arrested him at a location on CR 4560, which Weatherford said was near the location of another residential burglary. When he was taken into custody, Bell admitted to knowing the location of the stolen ATV, which deputies located the following day.

Bell is charged, along with the trespass on the hunting lease, with burglary of a habitation, and he could face additional charges, Weatherford said, as investigators and deputies continue to look into multiple thefts and burglaries in the area.

He is in custody with bonds set at $31,000 by Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Jim Moore.
