WOODVILLE – The 34th annual Harvest Festival at Heritage Village is a wrap for 2023. Both days saw beautiful weather and large crowds.
Friday, Oct. 20 was school day, and an estimated 400 children attended. Friday’s entertainment ran the gamut, from the SETX Dulcimer group to the Alabama-Coushatta tribal hoop dancers, to storytelling by Angela Davis (the Yarn Spinner), to the Outlaws of the Big Thicket performances.
Saturday, Oct. 21, brought out even bigger crowds. The SETX Dulcimer group performed again on the Village Green Stage, the Big Thicket Outlaws entertained the crowd,
Angela Davis was back with more yarns to spin (with audience participation), The Alabama Tribal Dancers put on a spectacular show, Woodville’s own first lady of song, Kim Cruse took the stage at 2 p.m., and Grupo Folk Lorico Dancers rounded out the festival’s entertainment at 3 p.m.
There were vendors galore, and tasty treats for the festival goers. A favorite food vendor was Blacksher’s Pork and Chicken Kabobs. Another crowd favorite was the Indian fry bread and taco stand. If you wanted to get your fried chicken fix, the Pickett House was open both days, 11 am-7 pm.
Fun, food, good music, and good times were shared by one and all at the 34th annual Heritage Festival. The staff and volunteers really brought the village to life for everyone in attendance.
