COLDSPRING — The San Jacinto County Commissioners Court approved continuing with Enterprise Fleet for vehicles but will not purchase new vehicles this year as the current ones are under mileage.
At the regular meeting on Wednesday, the court discussed the request from the Sheriff’s Office, which was a choice between moving to Dodge trucks or keeping the Chevys it currently had. Leasing new trucks would cost an additional $50 a month.
New trucks would have to be Dodge as other manufacturers do not have any available.
Also, by keeping the trucks, the county would save an additional $500 per vehicle.
In other business, the county:
•approved the county holiday schedule;
•approved the Commissioners Court schedule;
•approved a list pf six contractors to be used to demolish homes purchased in the county’s buyout program;
•approved an agreement with the Texas Division of Emergency Management;
•accepted the audit findings from Brooks Watson and Co. for the last fiscal year, which came in as unmodified;
•approved the annual renewal for the county’s worker’s compensation insurance;
•proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month;
•approved form changes to the TCEQ application for onsite sewage facilities, with a change to allow the use of field notes or deeds;
•approved minor changes to the job description for the county code enforcement position;
•approved a dump truck and a pickup truck as surplus to be sold at auction; and
•approved a construction services agreement for Fostoria Tramm Road removing language absolving PCII from liability for road damage.
