COLDSPRING — The Coldspring City Council discussed its efforts to clean up the city at its regular meeting on Sept. 11.

Mayor John Benestante gave updates on current problem areas, saying that some have progressed and some will need more work.

For instance, the property at 210 Slade St. has been cleaned up and no second notice will be required, but the property at 301 Highway 150 will have to move on to the next level of enforcement, Benestante said.

Additionally, businesses who have placed off-premise signs, such as attaching banners to fences on property they do not own, will be notified that the city recently has passed an ordinance banning them, he said.

In other business, the council:

•discussed a sewer tap requested by Brookshire Brothers for the installation of a Tobacco Barn;

•discussed construction of a concession stand at the youth ballpark, which should be through by mid-October;

•approved salary schedules for city employees; and

•approved a new city logo.
