City of Chester incumbents remain

CHESTER – The City of Chester had the good fortune to cancel its election bidding because all the incumbents were unchallenged, which also saved the city a little money.

Always looking to save, Mayor Robert Poynter was pleased to report that the playground work was done and some of the street work, too. He told the contractors and grant supervisors as long as they were able to do the job and “stay within their budget,” that was his main concern. All was falling into place within budget, and they had a little extra after the playground install, and they will be looking at how to spend the rest of the grant on other items for the park.

Their past-due customers were few. Seems almost all were up to date, and only a few were keeping their agreements with the City Secretary Balela Weaver who worked with them on a repayment plan.

The council was thrilled their city park signs were in, and they discussed locations and methods of erecting them.  There chatted about dogs and other security concerns.

They passed the financials for the city and gas company without further ado.
