More summer fun added at the library

SummerReading STOCK

The library has a considerable number of activities happening this July. We have brought back our Tuesday story time.

This month, Ms. Deb will be reading stories and making cranes, elephant masks and sock puppets. After an exciting trip abroad, Ms. Jo’Lee Tarkon has returned to lead Thursday’s storytime. As always, she will be reading and making fun crafts; she also will have a special story time detailing her adventures in Hungary and Scotland.

We will have game-day Saturdays with family games from 11 a.m.-noon and Chess Club from noon- 1p.m.

Our children’s programs are fully funded by donations and fundraising events. All donations of craft supplies are welcome. Throughout the year, we use a large quantity of glue, markers, paint, and construction paper. Volunteers are an integral part of story time and our library as a whole.

We have two permanent volunteers who read to the children, and Ms. Jo’Lee who facilitates our Saturday game days. Children and families are welcome to come play games every Saturday from 11 a.m.-noon.

At noon, she leads a Chess Club. We have children as young as 4 who join us to play chess. We can always use volunteers to help prepare for our story times. These people would cut and sort items for our crafts. Sometimes, there are more children than volunteers, staff, or parents so, we could always use more adult hands.

As you are cleaning out your closets, garages, etc., please keep the library in mind for donations. We accept book donations of all kinds but are more in need of large print books.

If you have any questions, would like to volunteer, or donate, please call us at (936) 594-2087, or email us at: [email protected].
