Community fair seeks fine art entries
Trinity Standard - August 2008
TRINITY – All area artists are being urged to begin preparing their project for entry into the 59th Annual Trinity Community Fair, which opens Friday, Sept. 19.
The annual event, which is known as the last free fair in Texas, does not charge a fee to spectators or exhibitors who wish to enjoy and participate in the event.
Those wishing to enter the fine arts contest will be asked to bring their entries to the Trinity Community Center starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18. The deadline for dropping off entries will be 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19.
Judging will begin at 10 a.m. Sept. 19.
All entries must be framed or mounted with a back hanger. A 2x4-inch card placed in the right corner must show the artist’s name, media used, whether it is an original or copy and whether an amateur or professional artist did it.
Those entering fine art items will be required to fill out an entry form and designate a responsible party to pick up the artwork if it is someone other than the artist or person placing the entry.
Entries may be picked up on Saturday, Sept. 20, after 7:30 p.m. at the back entrance of the community center. All items must be signed out.
If necessary, subject matter will be considered by the fair association’s screening committee.
Items accepted into the fine arts contest include oils, water colors, pen and ink drawings, pastels, crayon, charcoal and pencil sketches (not traced).
Age categories will include child, up to the age of 11; youth, ages 12-18; and adult, all those over the age of 18. The “child” category is for children not associated with work being submitted through school art classes, which are shown separately.
