Traffic stop nets drugs
Trinity Standard - August 2008

TRINITY – A traffic stop in Trinity Saturday, Aug. 9, ended with the arrest of an area couple on drug charges.
According to Police Chief Steven Jones, Officer Millard Stains made the stop near the intersection of Robb and Ramey streets at about 11:45 p.m.
Officer John Raiford and Trinity County Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Shipper soon joined Stains at the scene.
During the course of the investigation, Shipper found four grams of what was believed to be crack cocaine in the vehicle.
John Douglas, the driver of the car, and Judy Douglas, a passenger, were both arrested on possession of a controlled substance charges and were taken to the Trinity County Jail in Groveton. Both are former residents of the Jungle Village subdivision off FM 356 east of Trinity.
In other police activity last week, Anthony “Mud Duck” Jones, 24, of Trinity was charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a stabbing incident reported Wednesday, Aug. 6.
According to the police chief, Anthony Armstead, a cousin of the suspect, was stabbed multiple times and was taken to East Texas Medical Center-Trinity for treatment. He reportedly has since been released from the hospital.
The police chief said they do not know what lead to the stabbing but said that Anthony Jones surrendered to police later that night.
