Car, bike show success despite rain

 

Although Saturday's Art Walk Festival was rescheduled to June 28, the car and bike show went on as planned despite the rain with enthusiasts gathering around the San Jacinto County Courthouse square to view the approximate 60 different vehicles exhibited and take part in other activities. The annual car and bike show is hosted by the Coldspring Area Business and Merchants' Association (CABMA). Also participating in activities during the day was the Coldspring Community Center who sold barbecue lunches for funds to do remodeling work at the center and a raffle held by the Merchants' Association with half the proceeds going to San Jacinto County Care/Share and half to the winner. Among the winners of the car show were Will Smith who took first place with a 1936 Ford sedan; Sam McCormick who took a first place with his 1960 Ford Thunderbird; Jim Kizer who placed second with his 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air; Tammy Prince who took first place with her 2014 Dodge Challenger; Billy Burnett won an award for his 1969 Camaro; Harley Lovings won first with his 1974 Corvette; Kenneth Burke took second with his 1981 Corvette; Alex Paulicek took first place with his 1966 Mustang; Jennifer Wragge won second place with her 1965 Mustang; Don Carvalho won first place with his 2003 Mustang; Gary Hirstein won second place with his 2014 Mustang; Kevin Smith won first place with his 1935 Hudson Terraplane; Ron Eratt won second place with his 1929 Ford Highboy; Ron Elliot won first place with his 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air; David Boring won second place with his 1956 Chevrolet 210; Ronnie Irvin won first place with his Volkswagen Beetle; Steve Demott won second place with his 1973 Jensen Healey. In the truck division, Gary Nunley won first place for his 1966 custom Chevrolet pickup; Curtis Myers wond second place for his 1950 Ford F1; Jerry Corley won first place with his 1991 Chevrolet Silverado; Kevin Whih took second place with his 2006 GMC Topkick. In the motorcycle division, Dennis Borwn won with his 2009 Kawasaki; Troy Rowell won first place with his 2003 Harley-Davidson Road King Centennial Screaming Eagle motorcycle; George and Diana Moll won second place with their 2003 Cheetah Cruiser. The Best of Show trophy was won by Kevin Smith for his 1935 Hudson Terraplane. The Kid's Choice Award went to Kenneth Burke and his 1981 Corvette.
