COLDSPRING – A local man pled guilty to aggravated sexual assault Friday, July 18, in San Jacinto County District Court. Magnus James Brock pled guilty to the aggravated sexual assault of an eight-year-old child and was assessed 40 years in prison, according to San Jacinto County Criminal District Attorney Bill Burnett. “We were set to go to trial on the case in September and Brock decided to accept our 40-year offer. He is also facing revocation of his probation in Liberty County for indecency with a 12-year-old child and a 13-year-old child. We had DNA evidence in this case with the percentage chance being one in 17.35 billion that it was someone else,” Burnett said. He noted that the world population is only about 6.5 billion. “Brock’s likelihood of getting life or 99 years was extremely high if he went to trial. This way the 8-yearold child does not have to testify and Brock will have to do at least 20 years before he is even eligible to ask for parole,” Burnett said.
