Centerville ISD Homecoming Saturday

It is almost time to gather, tell stories, re-live experiences and visit old and new friends. The Ex-Students Association Executive Committee has the program outlined and initial indications point toward a great turnout. Festivities start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, with registration and visitation followed by a business meeting at 10:45, and lunch at noon. Although all graduating classes will be recognized, classes for special recognition will be for those graduating in 1947,1957, 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997, and 2007. Alumni from those classes are making extra efforts to reunite and visit. An amazing presentation by elementary students and speeche by Homecoming Queen contestants will be a highlight and worth the trip. We are all interested in learning more about the happenings at CHS and Superintendent Mark Brown has agreed to give us a "State of School" briefing. A little hint: very positive and exciting. You will be proud for the currently enrolled students. The Ex-Student Association accomplishments and projects will also be presented. Evening activities start at 5:30 with the introduction of the Queen's court and crowing of the 2017 Homecoming Queen. Following, the high school varsity boys and girls basketball teams will showcase skills on the hardwood floor as they host tough Latexo teams for evening games. A new addition, and something no one will want to miss, is the Oldies Free Throw Contest. Great, Once Great, or maybe Through They Were Great volunteers will be drafted from the ex-student ranks and allowed to demonstrate their hoop skills. Pressure and interest will be heightened as we cheer them on and support the Ex-Student Association Scholarship Fund with monetary pledges for each shot made within a one-minute time limit. Speculation indicated a barrel of fun, but rusty skills will likely prevent any great financial burdens. Mark you calendar and plan to attend and participate.
