Rodney Langley new preacher at Highway 94 Church of Christ
Groveton News - July 2008
On July 6 Rodney Langley began his work at the Highway 94 Church of Christ as the full-time preacher. The preaching position at the Church of Christ had been vacant since November 2007 due to the untimely death of Bro. Lee Brinkmann.
Bro. Langley comes to Groveton from Harrisburg, Arkansas where he was serving as a deacon. He had been actively doing fill-in, interim preaching, and youth meetings since October 2000.
Bro. Langley is 33 years old and has been married for 10 years. His wife Lesa is an elementary school teacher. They have two children, Luke (6), and Becca (4). Rodney and Lesa have both been actively involved with the congregation in Harrisburg with Lesa regularly teaching bible classes and Rodney teaching both adult and teen classes.
Bro. Langley graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro in December 1996 with a BA degree in Political Science and a minor in Mathematics. His main jobs have been in sales. He worked for the Jonesboro Sun in Jonesboro from 1997-2001 and then with Hank's Fine Furniture in Jonesboro from 2001-2003. Rodney then began work in the car business in 2003 at Wood Ford in Trumann, Arkansas as a salesperson and then moved to Steve Jones Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep in Wynne, Arkansas in 2005 working there as a salesperson, assistant finance manager, and internet sales manager.
During all this secular work Bro. Langley preached at congregations in Romance, Keiser, Harrisburg, Rose Bud, Palestine, and Cherry Valley, Arkansas. He has always been interested in going into the ministry full time and every time he got the opportunity to speak he felt that this was what he should be doing with his life.
Bro. Langley stated that, "I am looking for a community that we can become a part of and stay for a while. I enjoy teaching, holding bible studies, and visiting the sick and elderly".
