POLK COUNTY -- According to public data from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, burglaries reported throughout the county reached its highest rate of the year during the month of July. Data collected by communitycrimemap. com lists 28 burglaries that were reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office in July, which was above the average of 13 during the first six months of the year. This includes residential and commercial burglaries. The second highest rate occurred back in January with 21 reported burglaries. The lowest rate occurred in February with seven reported burglaries. The data is sourced from reports by the Polk County Sheriff's Office and does not include reports from city police departments in Livingston, Corrigan or Onalaska. According to recent data, nearly 30 percent of reported burglaries in the last four months occurred in the Scenic Loop area and West Livingston. In the last month, this included three residences and three commercial buildings in that area.
