Driver hurt in one-vehicle mishap

GOODRICH -- A Goodrich woman was hospitalized from a onevehicle accident that occurred Friday afternoon on FM 2665 near Goodrich. Heather Cater, 22, was reportedly transported by ambulance to CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial hospital in Livingston after her vehicle left the road and slammed into a tree near the Copeland Creek bridge on FM 2665. Cater's one-week-old baby was also in the vehicle, but appeared to be unharmed at the scene. According to initial reports from Texas Highway Patrol, Cater was traveling eastbound on FM 2665 in a brown GMC Yukon XL and veered right into the grass, then over-corrected to the left and into the woods. The SUV smashed directly into a large tree, taking it down and spinning back around to face the road. Traffic was partially blocked along the Copeland Creek bridge during investigation and cleanup. First responders from Holiday Lake Estates Volunteer Fire Department were also on-scene to assist law enforcement.
