Students plant for the future
Houston County Courier - May 2008
Forest Rangers Todd Nightingale, Steve Casper and Michael Easley and all first grade classes at Crockett Elementary School participated in the planting of several variety of trees, including pecans, maples and crepe myrtles, on the new elementary school campus in celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day.
Former Crockett Independent School District Board president Dr. Joe Garms also helped with the project.
First grade students enjoyed a hands-on lesson on the importance of trees in our environment, which included learning about the function of a tree's roots, stems, leaves and flowers. |
